Okay, sounds good, but who is this guy and how does he know this stuff?

Well, I am totally passionate about drums and all that goes with them. I could bore anybody senseless on how drums are made - the woods, the acoustic properties, construction techniques, blah, blah. I have thoroughly researched the history of cymbal manufacturing - cast vs. pressed, etc., etc. Thanks to a very good friend and co-musician, I now have the nickname 'Drumgeek'. Okay, that maybe my problem, but if it can help you, so what!

Add to this nearly 30 years of playing and nearly as long experimenting with all the topics listed here - in other words, learning the hard way - then applying the knowledge successfully, you can rest assured that I know what I'm about.

My main focus these days is tuning education and although I know my methods do work, I have to make it clear that I'm not suggesting for one moment that I am 'the expert' or that other methods do not work. The main thing is to help fellow drummers to gain control of their tuning, build the confidence to experiment and try different approaches , instead of the all-too-common 'trial and error' approach.
